Commissions
Commissions are welcome, please contact if you need an oil painting of your house, property or a location. I work from a site visit and photographs. Obviously other projects are welcome.
I document each stage of the painting by taking a photo of each session which is approximately 3 hours, as the work is usually detailed . It is then easier to work out a fair price. I think I am worth more than minimum wage so generally charge between £15 -£20 an hour.
Framing is done professionally and the charge is in addition to my cost.

The following are some varied recent commissions.
01
Castleton North Yorkshire
This was a beautiful location in the North Yorkshire Moors. The cottage was raised from the road and the best angle afforded a view beyond. The site visit was in November so autumnal colours prevailed. The rider just happened by, but fitted perfectly into the ambience. Artistic license was taking when painting the foreground foliage though the brickwork was accurate. A softening blur in the distance helps focus on the main cottage.
The client chose to frame the picture himself at a later date.
02
The Old Post Office - Hutton
This impressive old property was uninspiring from the road but had it's main view from the side entrance through a 5 bar gate. The changing history in the brickwork was essential to the client. Although it was winter I opted to use some of his photos in warmer times to add the foliage. The dog sits comfortably in the composition, unfortunately I could not fit in a second dog so easily so opted to a do a small separate painting for him. The painting was professionally framed.
03
Norwich Fantasy
This painting was made as present for the clients daughter. He knew she admired previous paintings of mine that were abstracted or transformed. I wanted to include the area she lives, the park, and typical Norwich landmarks. It also includes the old terrace she grew up in. I opted for a free flowing Cubist style.
04
Shadow
This painting was done as an anniversary present from
a loving husband to his wife. The horse was called Shadow and was the first horse she owned. Hence the painting was taken from old photographs. I added the green background as a nod to the most famous of all horse painters - George Stubbs.
05
Watermill Farm
This beautiful property was mainly built by the current owner, hence the placing of the stones had to be precise.
It occupies a prime position on the island, with Tourgis in the background. A tale of caution was the decision to leave it unframed in the warm living room as it developed a warp! This was easily remedied but lessons were learnt.
06
Rea's Bar
Rea's bar was a favourite haunt of mine. Rea wanted a
painting that captured the location and the terrace. To gain the right viewpoint a local mobile platform was used. The painting was displayed proudly in the bar. Unfortunately the ownership has changed many times since then.
07
Fort Doyle
This was a large painting where the client wanted an image that was original and devoid of bright colour to fit in her living room. The almost monochrome view was made as a vignette to suggest an old photograph. Her name is hidden in the vigorous brush marks in the foreground.
08
Trigalle
This was a commission to paint the owners cottage. Difficult to get a good view so I opted for 2 small pictures
from each end of the narrow road. They were not intended as a pair so I chose to do the second one in vibrant colours.
