Waves to Wolds
Alderney to Driffield

Artist Bio
Marcus Cowling
My name is Marcus Cowling an artist living in Driffield, East Yorkshire recently by way of Halesworth, Suffolk and for 11 years Alderney in the Channel Islands. Hence the many paintings of that dear island.

I have mainly painted in acrylics though recently moved into oils
and generally feel comfortable with most media, having 35 years experience as an Art Master in various educational establishments.

Whilst I love the rigour of naturalistic works I am now using the opportunity of a new studio to explore many other approaches and styles. The Yorkshire Wolds are yet to be discovered in my artistic endeavours.

GATEWAY TO THE WOLDS
My First Paintings in oils exploring the town and environs are also giving me a chance to experiment in style.

If they end up looking like a Hockney or a Monet or even a Dali or Picasso, then no-one will be less surprised than me. Being steeped in Art History it is nigh on impossible to unlearn from the past.

ALDERNEY
Most of my paintings were based on the small Channel Island of Alderney where I lived and worked for 11 years. The paintings were sold through exhibitions at the "Pres" studio
as well as commisions and private patrons.

I also sold greetings cards and reproductions of my work. A practice I would like to continue as they proved popular with residents and visitors.

I may not have the paintings, but retain the rights to re-produce. Check out my shop.
